This is Daniel Whyte III with the Second Coming Watch Update. This is update #855. Let’s take a quick look at today’s prophecy-related headlines which point towards the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ and the end of the world as we know it.

First, under the Sign category of DISTRESS AMONG NATIONS — According to Reuters, Vice Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff General Paul Selva said on Wednesday that Russia has deployed a land-based cruise missile that violates the “spirit and intent” of an arms control treaty and poses a threat to NATO. It was the first public accusation by the U.S. military of the deployment after reports said last month that Russia had secretly deployed the ground-launched SSC-8 cruise missile that Moscow has been developing and testing for several years, despite U.S. complaints that it violated sections of the 1987 Intermediate-range Nuclear Forces treaty. During a House Armed Services Committee hearing, Selva said, “The system itself presents a risk to most of our facilities in Europe and we believe that the Russians have deliberately deployed it in order to pose a threat to NATO and to facilities within the NATO area of responsibility.”

Second, today, under the Sign category of TURMOIL IN ISRAEL & THE MIDDLE EAST — According to Reuters, a U.S. official said on Monday that multiple fast-attack vessels from the Iranian Revolutionary Guard had come within 600 yards of the USNS Invincible, a tracking ship being accompanied by two British ships, forcing them to change direction. But an Iranian naval commander said the incident, the first of note between the countries’ navies in those waters since January, was the fault of the US ship, telling the Fars news agency: “The unprofessional actions of the Americans can have irreversible consequences.” Iranian president Hassan Rouhani, without referring to the incident, also gave a warning on Wednesday, stating, “If Iran’s ignorant enemies think about invading Iran they should know that our armed forces are much stronger than in 1980 when Iraq attacked.”

Third, today, under the Sign category of FAMINE — According to Al Jazeera, Somalia is teetering on the brink of a third famine that could affect over 6 million men, women, and children. The last famine occurred in 2011 and killed almost 300,000 people. A new famine is imminent as drought sweeps through Somalia. The drought has been declared a national disaster by the Somalian government. The UN Secretary General called on the international community to support those struggling to feed themselves and their families.

Fourth, today, under the Sign category of WARS & RUMORS OF WARS — According to Reuters, The top U.S. commander in Iraq on Wednesday downplayed the chances that the United States would deploy a large number of additional coalition forces to battle the Islamic State, even as President Donald Trump weighs options to speed up the campaign. Army Lieutenant General Stephen Townsend told a Pentagon news briefing, “I don’t foresee us bringing in large numbers of coalition troops, mainly because what we’re doing is, in fact, working.” He said that if additional troops were brought in, the U.S. would wait until Iraqi and other local forces agreed to the plan.

Fifth, today, under the Sign category of THE TURMOIL IN ISRAEL & THE MIDDLE EAST — According to The Jerusalem Post, one day after Israeli Defense Minister A-vig-dor Lie-ber-man met with U.S. Vice President Mike Pence, the Arab League voted unanimously in Cairo for a resolution blocking the proposed relocation of the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. The League said, “The establishment of any diplomatic mission in Jerusalem, or transfer of one to the city, is an explicit assault on the rights of the Palestinian people and all Muslims and Christians, and a serious violation of international law.” They added, “It would constitute a serious threat to peace and security in the region, as well as contribute to an implosion of the two-state solution, and the promotion of extremism and violence.” Ji-bril Ra-joub, a senior Palestinian leader and Fatah official, warned that an embassy relocation is tantamount to “a declaration of war against Muslims.”

The prophetic passage of Scripture that we are looking at today is Jeremiah 23:5-8 which reads: “Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth. In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, The Lord Our Righteousness. Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that they shall no more say, The Lord liveth, which brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt; But, The Lord liveth, which brought up and which led the seed of the house of Israel out of the north country, and from all countries whither I had driven them; and they shall dwell in their own land.”

Allow me to share with you some commentary on this passage from the Popular Bible Prophecy Commentary, edited by Tim LaHaye and Ed Hindson.

As a result of the righteous reign of the God-man descendant of David, there will be a final restoration. The words “behold, the days are coming” project outward to the prophetic future in reference to the messianic kingdom. Jeremiah points out that in that day the Jewish people will no more say, “As the LORD lives, who brought up the sons of Israel from the land of Egypt.” To this day, the exodus from Egypt remains a high point of Jewish history. The Jewish people often refer to God as “the One who brought us up out of the land of Egypt.” Yet the exodus will pale in comparison to the final restoration. In the future the Jews will not say, “As the Lord lives who brought [us] …from the land of Egypt,” but will say, “As the Lord lives, who brought up and led back the descendants of the household of Israel from the north land and from all the countries where [God] had driven [us].”

Jeremiah mentions a return from the north country, which is Babylonia. Jews will be returning from that prophetic Babylon of the future during the events of the campaign of Armageddon. They will also return “from all the countries where [God] had driven them.” There will also be a regathering from all the other countries in the world as well. That final regathering will become the new high point of Jewish history. God will regather His people from all the places where He had driven them. Jeremiah then concludes with a promise from God: “Then they will live on their own soil.” When they have returned to the land, they will be able to live safely in it.

If the Lord tarries His coming and we live, we will continue looking at the prophetic passages of the Bible in our next broadcast / podcast.

Our second coming quote for today is from Lee Roberson. He said, “I cannot think of any person who would not be benefited by an understanding of the second coming. This is for the young as well as for the aged; for the businessman as well as for the housewife; for the wealthy as well as for the poor; for the sick as well as for the healthy. For the man who is a failure — this doctrine should spur him on. If a man is failing in his Christian activities — this truth should spur him on to do still more for the Savior.”

If you are not ready for the return of Jesus Christ, may I encourage you to get ready today by receiving Him as your Savior. Here is how.

First, accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God’s law. The Bible says in Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

Second, accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states in Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death…”

Third, accept the fact that you are on the road to hell. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 10:28: “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Also, the Bible states in Revelation 21:8: “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

Now that is bad news, but here is the good news. Jesus Christ said in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Just believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead by the power of God for you so that you can live eternally with Him. Pray and ask Him to come into your heart today, and He will. Romans 10:13 says, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Keep looking up for your redemption draweth nigh. Let us join in the prayer of John the Revelator — “Even so, come, Lord Jesus.” God bless you.
