Today’s Devotion is “The Cry of a Hungry Soul” (Day 21 in our series 40 Days of Easter Truth)
Our Easter Focus Passage today is: John 6:35-37
35 Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.
36 But as I told you, you have seen me and still you do not believe.
37 All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away.
Now, here’s today’s Easter Truth:
There is within each and every person born into the world a deep-seated hunger that cries from the soul to be filled with something that is everlastingly satisfying. Many people try to feed these hunger pangs with money, power, people, positions, or material things. But after pursuit of all this stuff, they hear the hunger pangs of their souls cry out even louder to be filled with something or Someone more meaningful and long-lasting. Blaise Pascal, a French Christian philosopher and physicist said, “There is a God shaped vacuum in the heart of every man which cannot be filled by any created thing, but only by God, the Creator, made known through Jesus.”
