Our thankful thought for today is this: Friendliness is a byproduct of gratitude. When we perceive kindness or generosity, we have a tendency to want to reciprocate the action or at least the feeling. Expressing gratitude for life causes us to be better equipped to handle friends, to be more likable and to perceive other people as likable. Research shows that people who are ten percent more grateful than average have nearly twenty percent more friends and social activity. The social part of all of us is on alert when people need help with a problem or need emotional support to get through a difficult time in life. Being grateful helps us to understand the power of giving and serving long before we ever give anything or serve anyone.

Our quote of thanks is from Tecumseh. He said, “Live your life so that the fear of death can never enter your heart. When you arise in the morning, give thanks for the morning light. Give thanks for your life and strength. Give thanks for your food and for the joy of living. And if perchance you see no reason for giving thanks, rest assured the fault is in yourself.”

Our Bible verse of thanks is Revelation 7:12. It reads, “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever! Amen.”
