TEXT: Isaiah 1:1-20

In our last message, we looked at the Lord’s description of Israel as an abandoned, exposed, weakened nation, laid bare to the assaults of her enemies. These were the enemies God had warned Israel that she would fall prey to if she strayed from the path of disobedience. Even though it seemed as if the whole nation were being abandoned, Isaiah points out that a “very small remnant” was being preserved. The Hebrew word translated as “remnant” simply means: survivor, or that which is left. The remnant are those who had lived through the age of Israel’s sin and remained faithful to God despite the destruction that rained down on the country.
