Proverbs 19:11

This proverb speaks again of the wisdom of tempering the common emotion of anger. We can do this through a measure of “discretion.” The Hebrew word translated as “discretion” means: “prudence, good sense, insight, and understanding.” A prudent person has the good sense and insight to understand that a display of anger and wrath, unless it is holy anger against sin rebellion and evil in most cases, does not solve problems. Rather, it only gives rise to more anger, resentment, bitterness, and dispiritedness on the the part of others involved.
