In keeping with our theme of dealing with the man (or woman) in the mirror, we are going to continue discussing the building of important biblical character traits in your life. Today, we will continue looking at the quality of forgiveness from “The Power for True Success” by the Institute in Basic Life Principles.

— We are continuing with the Concepts to Understand Forgiveness

— Edifying the Body of Christ vs. cutting off believers

Paul explains that every believer is a member of the Body of Christ and that we are all connected one with another. Therefore, if we refuse to forgive a fellow believer, we are actually refusing to forgive ourselves.

This recognition of fellow believers as members of the Body of Christ is referred to in the passage on the Lord’s table. Those who violate this concept are not discerning the Lord’s body. First Corinthians 11:27-30 says, “Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body. For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep (that is, die).”
